Colombianite is a type of volcanic glass (Obsidian), with a nodular and rough appearance, found almost exclusively in the Cauca region of Colombia. Although it is frequently marketed in the crystal market as a tectite (glass formed by meteorite impact), geological studies confirm that it is a Pseudotectite. In fact, it is an extremely ancient form of Obsidian, estimated to be about 30 million years old.

Dark brown, slightly translucent, almost opaque, with small, irregular roughness or grooves caused by the action of soil acids over millions of years. This gives it a striated texture very similar to the famous Moldavite.
